The company came in the top 25 of companies surveyed by the Reputation Institute survey, which considered over 120 companies.

Bord na Móna ranked number 22 overall and came 8th out of the Irish companies surveyed.

The criteria on which companies were judged included whether the companies were trusted, respected and had a good overall reputation.

Bord na Móna has carried out green initiatives, which it believes, has boosted its reputation.

The company is a provider of sustainable energy and power generation, with renewables at the core.

Their portfolio includes wind generation, biomass energy and flexible thermal plants.

Bord na Móna spokesperson Pat Fitzgerald said: “What is particularly pleasing is being ranked second in the state-owned sector and first amongst all energy companies, including those privately owned.

“Our overall ranking is remarkable given that neither the energy industry in Ireland nor the state-owned sector are currently reputation-enhancing.”
