New lab to test for legionella

A new environmental testing laboratory will be able to test waters for rapid legionella in Scotland for the first time.

The 20,818 square foot laboratory specialises in various areas of environmental testing. In addition to water quality testing it will include soil -testing and waste and asbestos monitoring services.

The flagship laboratory has been opened by Exova, the global testing and advisory business.

The majority of work conducted by Exova in the environmental sector is in support of environmental consultancies, local government, developers and other agencies.

The testing allows Exova clients to demonstrate their compliance with regulatory requirements, determine the quality of natural resources and mitigate harmful effects of industrial and other waste on the environment.

Douglas Weir, general manager at Exova Hillington, said: “This is a very exciting move for Exova, allowing the business to expand and introduce new services to local and national markets.

“The facility is purpose built and can accommodate a vast quantity of testing, conducted in a modern, clean environment ensuring effective and thorough testing.”
