Commercial Vehicle Show to resume its annual fixture

The Commercial Vehicle Show is to run in its entirety again next year at Birmingham NEC following the event's success in April, organisers have announced.

Following a downturn in the commercial vehicle market in 2008, the CV Show was cancelled in 2009 and replaced in 2010 with a smaller scale CV operator-type event.

Organisers intended to alternate the two events on a yearly basis, but this year’s show “beat all expectations” and will revert back to its annual fixture. The move comes on the back of strong industry feedback on the 2011 show which attracted over 16,000 people.

One of the organisers is the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE). Its chief executive, Nick Jones, said: “Despite the weak economic conditions, the 2011 CV Show attracted an impressive display of exhibitors and an enthusiastic set of visitors.”

The CV Show has a strong municipal theme to it – vehicle companies operating in the waste management field such as Dennis Eagle, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo have all been past exhibitors.

Next year, the event will be held at Birmingham NEC from 24-26 April.
