Northumbrian Water appoints new directors

Northumbrian Water has appointed two new directors to take on responsibility for its north east, Essex and Suffolk, Scotland, Ireland and Gibraltar services.

Stepping into the top level appointments positions at Northumbrian Water are Sarah Salter, who has taken up the post of a group human resources director, and Dr Maxine Mayhew as group commercial director.

Both of the new directors will be based at the company’s Durham head office and Ms Salter has taken over from her predecessor, who left the company last year, while Dr Mayhew’s position is a newly created post. Both directors will have group-wide responsibilities.

Northumbrian Water’s chief executive officer, Heidi Mottram, said: “I am delighted to have such talented and experienced professionals join our management team. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and talent will add to that of the much respected existing team to lead our first class award-winning company to even greater heights.”

Prior to joining Northumbrian Water, Ms Salter was group HR director at Places for People, a national property management and development company. While Dr Mayhew, previously worked for United Utilities, where she held a wide range of roles.

One of Dr Mayhew’s key roles in her new post will be to further develop co-digestion, a process that digests waste in order to increase biogas, opportunities for Northumbrian Water, which already has energy from sewage waste operations in place.

According to Northumbrian Water, Dr Mayhew will also work to manage and grow the group’s commercial Private Finance Initiatives (PFI), which already have contracts in Scotland and Ireland.
