Dublin launches water mains upgrade works

Dublin City Council has launched the next phase of a Euro118m water main rehabilitation project in a bid to reduce leakage, improve water pressure and security of supply.

As part of the works, old lead connections to public supplies will be upgraded and the existing Victorian water mains will be replaced in the All Hallows area around Drumcondra Road, as well as in the South City.

Dublin City Council executive manager Tom Leahy said the work will result in a “much improved water service with major benefits in reduced leakage and improved levels of service”.

The project is funded by the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government and managed by Dublin City Council on behalf of the four local authorities in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Bray.
