Scottish SMEs offered free recycling service

Local businesses are set to benefit from a free trade waste recycling service following the launch of a business improvement district (BID) initiative in Kirkclaldy, Fife.

The project launched today (April 13) will be delivered by waste contractor William Tracey Group and social enterprise Radical Rubbish through the Kirkcladly4All BID partnership.

Under the scheme, businesses that are BID members will be able to have their waste paper, cardboard, plastics and aluminium cans collected free of charge by Radical Rubbish. Meanwhile William Tracey Group will supply the necessary machinery and training required.

All sorted recyclates will be taken to the William Tracey Group’s Glenrothes depot for weighing and processing and a market price rebate will be paid to Radical Rubbish which will help support further training and employment activities.

After three months, the project will report on the amounts of commodities that have been recycled as well as business cost savings generated.
