Mr Ullah, who is currently head of policy and advocacy at the Stakeholder Forum and specialist advisor to the UK Parliament Environmental Audit Committee will take over from the outgoing executive director Felix Dodds from September 1.

Forum board of directors chair Philip Dobie said that Mr Ullah was chosen as a result of his experience in policy advice, stakeholder engagement and capability building and in particular for his work in positioning the forum as a bridge between civil society and governments as part of the Rio+20.

He said: “Farooq has an extensive background and understanding of sustainable development and the issues facing the Earth and its people. He also has the vision and determination to take Stakeholder Forum into a new era.”
