According to Forum chief executive Peter Madden, Mr Bristow, the former chief executive of business-led charity Carbon Leapfrog, was chosen for his experience in energy policy and sustainability.

Mr Madden said, “To transform our energy system, we need to work together with people throughout the sector to find solutions that we can scale up quickly. Giles’s background – bringing companies together to make the most of their resources to create the biggest impact – means he’s the right person to lead our energy team and to lead real change.”

Mr Bristow added: “My passion for transformational change is focused on practical, tangible steps and this is exactly what Forum for the Future is best placed to scale up – the products, services, financial mechanisms and business models that will bring about a sustainable energy system.”
