Largest roof-based solar installation in the North of England completed

The renewable energy and energy efficiency firm Eco Environments has installed almost 1,700 Hyundai solar panels on the roof of a temperature controlled storage and distribution specialist Cold Move.

The record-breaking project at Cold Move’s depot in Goldborne, Warrington, comprised of 1077 panels with a capacity of 250kWp. A further 150kWp made up of 600 panels was then installed at Cold Move’s headquarters in Oswestry.

The installations form part of Cold Move’s 2020 target to reduce its carbon footprint 25% and cut carbon emissions by 176,386 kg a year.

Cold Move’s managing director James Woodward said: “We are firmly committed to a renewable energy strategy and we are already seeing the environmental and financial benefits of our investment in Oswestry and Golborne.

“We will be seeking out further opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint with the introduction of low emission cars and potentially a wind turbine at one of our sites.”

Eco Environments designs, installs and commissions technologies including solar PV, wind turbines, solar thermal, air source heat pumps and energy efficient lighting.
