Sustainability Live to host ‘climate summit’ from Mount Everest

Intrepid explorer Mark Wood will be linking from his Mount Everest ascent expedition at this year's Sustainability Live exhibition to raise awareness for international climate change issues.

The mountaineer, who has 30 major expeditions under his belt, is a committed campaigner for better understanding of the planet and its fragile, changing environment.

Next month he will be leading a team of explorers through the Nepalese side of the Himalayas to Mount Everest Base Camp from which they will attempt to climb the south side of the mountain.

Wood, who is the new patron for the Sustainability Live event will make his link from the mountain during the show, held at Birmingham NEC, 16 – 18 April.

Wood said the transmission would be a great opportunity to involve an influential audience with what is sure to be a ground-breaking journey.

“This expedition combines both exploration with education, as we attempt to show in pictures and videos the ever-changing environment in the Himalayas – including the shifting glaciers that have a direct effect on the local people,” he said.

Sustainability Live is the UK’s leading environmental exhibition, primarily focusing on the energy, water and energy-from-waste sectors.

It includes an extensive seminar programme and over 300 exhibitors including leading players from the sustainability sector. The show is expected to attract over 8,000 attendees throughout it three days.
