REA chief exec to step down

Renewable Energy Association (REA) chief executive Gaynor Hartnell has today announced her decision to step down as head of the trade association.

Hartnell has worked for the REA since its formation in 2001 and has been chief executive since 2010.

Under Hartnell’s leadership the association has helped shape the Renewable Heat Incentive, stabilise the feed-in tariff following the expansion of solar PV and ensure that sections of the Electricity Market Reform impacting on renewables were compatible with the sector’s expansion.

REA chair Martin Wright said: “Gaynor has been with the REA since its inception, and is well-known and well-respected throughout the industry. It is with great regret that the Board has accepted her resignation, although we are very pleased that she wants to remain involved in order to explore new ventures and projects.

“Gaynor became the Chief Executive in February 2010, and over that time the REA has grown in size and stature and moved to prestigious new offices in Victoria.”

Hartnell, who said she wanted to explore other opportunities, will continue to lead the Association until a replacement is found.
