Another PM10 case rejected in Germany

Following last months story on how Berlin was to be brought before the Courts by German environmental group Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH), who were supporting a case to be taken against the city of Berlin to force it to comply with EU limits on fine particulate (PM10) air pollution, which took effect earlier this year, a similar case has since been rejected by the Munich administrative court.

The German court threw out an injunction designed to compel the Munich government to impose restrictions on car and truck travel to reduce PM10 levels.

While unsuccessful due to a legal technicality in this case, the environmental group DUH, maintain that progress is being made with regard to their campaign to reduce PM10 levels, following the cities of Dortmund and Dusseldorf having closed their city-centres to lorries and imposed other restrictions on cars.
