Griffiths Elder takes the biscuit with

Weighing specialist Griffith Elder, based in Suffolk, does quite literally take the biscuit when it comes to industrial waste monitoring with its product WasteWatch.

WasteWatch has been designed to monitor waste produced from manufacturing production lines.

Waste material from the production line is monitored by the use of a weigh platform and a data capture terminal. This material is placed in a waste bin and then wheeled on to a weigh platform where the data capture unit gathers the information on the source of the waste and sends to a PC to determine whether the waste is of the correct type to be disposed into a mechanical compactor or waste storage unit for collection. All wastage information is logged on to a database and can be called upon by the operator’s request to monitor each production line’s productivity and wastage produced.

Currently, Griffith Elder has this product installed at various food manufacturers around the UK.

This application allows all wastage from the production line to be monitored and disposed off for recycling into animal feed ingredients. WasteWatch is able to weigh and record the surplus food products, such as biscuits, breakfast cereal and other snack and confectionary items, before the waste is sent to the compactor or waste storage unit for collection which is then taken off and recycled to use as an ingredient within all types of animal feed.

WasteWatch does not only weigh and monitor the wastage; it can also control the disposal of the surplus food waste into different methods of containment, depending on the preferred choice of the manufacturer.

Griffith Elder has been manufacturing weighing machines for over 20 years and has a wide range from platform scales, and vehicle on-board weighers to specialist weighing equipment.
