Atkins though was clearly ahead, gaining a majority of the votes from both customers and consultants.

Brownfield development and regeneration has always been one of Atkins‘ many strong points and they have been involved in many high profile regeneration and remediation projects including the regeneration of the Greenwich Peninsula.

Enviros are also a major player in this market, working on projects ranging from remediation of groundwater in an aquifer near a chemicals plant to obtaining planning permissions for developments on former landfill sites.

Growth is expected in this market across the board of consultancies as the government retains its target of 60% development on brownfield land and has also committed itself to extensive housebuilding to catch up with demand.
