Overflows of untreated sewage into the tidal River Thames add up to tens of millions of tonnes every year. The Tideway tunnel aims to clean up this mess, preventing the tidal River Thames from being polluted with untreated sewage which can stay in the river for up to three months.

In this episode, edie talks to Tideway’s head of environmental sustainability Darren White before, during and after a boat tour of the River Thames, to discuss how a project to futureproof the city’s sewers will cut back on pollution and reduce plastic waste.

The interview covers benefits of the projects including ethical procurement, low-emission transport and the emergence of green bonds into the investment market. The episode concludes with regular news updates and the innovation of the week.
