Taking place on 6 December at 1pm GMT, the webinar will feature insight from Ball Beverage Packaging Europe’s sustainability director Ramon Arratia, PwC’s director of sustainability Bridget Jackson and GridBeyond’s managing director Wayne Muncaster. More speakers are expected to be announced in due course.

The recent IPCC report underlined the urgent need to redefine climate action and push for even more ambition in 2019. Meanwhile, the global plastics problem has rapidly become one of the biggest waste issues of our time. Fortunately, in the face of these challenges, some businesses have taken the lead in 2018, driving positive change and building new momentum through ambitious pledges.

But, how do these businesses take up this ‘leadership’ position? With 2019 just around the corner, this interactive webinar will break down exactly how sustainability and energy professionals can transform their business into a sustainability leader over the next 12 months. The ‘power hour’ session will provide expert tips along with the key trends and industry developments to be aware of in 2019 – all in the space of 60 minutes.

Discussion points:

  • The push for ‘net-zero’. The IPCC report has led to the likes of BT setting a new net-zero carbon target, while the UK Government is now discussing what such an ambition would look like for the entire nation. How can other businesses begin to align their own emissions reductions under this more ambitious roadmap?
  • The plastics problem in 2019 – Public awareness of the environmental harm that some plastics can cause reached new heights over the last 12 months and looks likely to be the ongoing hot topic into 2019. But the conversation is changing, and – as this webinar will reveal – businesses need to look at a lifecycle approach to resource use.
  • Igniting your business purpose – Building trust and understanding within the workplace and amongst consumers is vital to business growth. But, in the digital age, greenwash is easy to spot. How can businesses find and use their purpose to promote sustainability best practice and build consumer trust? Also, how can a sustainability professional ignite business-wide change that fosters internal sustainable growth?

If you have any questions about the key sustainability trends in 2019, please leave a comment below and we will do our best to ask them all during the Q&A section of this webinar.
