Sustainability Leaders Awards 2019: Final line-up confirmed

The Awards take place 6 February at the Park Plaza

Now in their 12th year, the RSA-accredited Sustainability Leaders Awards have undergone a major revamp, with a host of new categories and judges, a new Awards venue, and a new Mission Possible theme – making 6 February 2019 the biggest night of the sustainable business calendar.

To mark the occasion, Springwatch presenter Michaela Strachan will act as compere for the night, while comedian Sara Pascoe will also appear to act as the night’s entertainment. As revealed last week, Paul Polman, who recently stepped down after 10 years as chief executive of Unilever, will appear as the official Guest of Honour.

During the ceremony, which takes place at Park Plaza Westminster, Polman will provide his insights and advice for sustainability professionals based on his decade in charge of Unilever, which emerged as a sustainable business behemoth under his leadership.

Following Polman’s appearance, both Strachan and Pascoe will be on hand to help celebrate best-practice sustainability across 20 awards. Sitting alongside well-established Awards favourites – including the all-important Sustainability Leader, Energy Management Leader and Employee Engagement & Behaviour Change awards – edie has introduced SEVEN new categories for 2019.

These new categories include the CSR Engagement/Marketing Campaign of the Year; Circular Economy Innovation of the Year; Team of the Year; and the Rising Sustainability Star Award.

This year’s shortlist is made up of 131 people, projects, products and organisations that are together redefining what it means to be a sustainable, ethical and responsible business.

The 2019 Awards are being aligned with Mission Possible – edie’s new campaign which seeks to empower and inspire sustainability, energy and resource efficiency professionals to achieve a sustainable future for their business.

Two new ‘Mission Possible’-themed categories have been developed – the Mission Possible: Mobility Award and the Mission Possible: The Built Environment Award – to organisations that are willing to take bold actions to achieve a sustainable future in these key areas. Meanwhile, the coveted Sustainable Business of the Year Award has also been given a Mission Possible revamp.
