Webinar: Scope 3 emissions and science-based targets: Closing the reporting gap

Event Date: 30/05/2019 1:00 pm

This one-hour webinar, hosted in association with Carbon Credentials, will help businesses overcome the challenge of calculating, reporting and ultimately reducing ‘Scope 3' supply chain emissions on the path to achieving approved science-based targets.

More than 500 businesses across the world have publicly committed to set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with climate science through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). But less than half of these companies have actually had their targets formally approved.

One of the main reasons for this is the highly complex challenge of reporting and reducing Scope 3 emissions. These ‘value chain emissions’ cover all indirect greenhouse gas emissions caused by the various activities of an organisation – from purchased goods and services and use of sold products to business travel, transportation and distribution – often making them the largest source of emissions.

So, what exactly are the SBTi’s Scope 3 reporting requirements? How can businesses take control of these upstream and downstream supply chain emissions? And what tools and techniques can be used to effectively gather and act upon Scope 3 emissions data?

This edie webinar brings together carbon reporting experts with senior business energy to explore how organisations can close the Scope 3 reporting gap on the road to achieving science-based targets.
