edie launches free Decentralised Energy Toolkit for businesses

The UK’s net-zero carbon revolution is only achievable through the upgrading of energy infrastructure and the move away from centralised energy generation. Centralised energy infrastructure based on the traditional silos of gas and electricity must be replaced with a smart energy framework which integrates power, heat and transport systems and is designed around the user’s needs.

So, what are the technologies and systems that will enable this decentralised energy transformation? How viable are those technologies today; and what are the business considerations before implementing them?

This free Decentralised Energy Toolkit breaks down how organisations can utilise distributed energy solutions to take control of their energy use and realise various competitive and environmental benefits – from increased energy resilience and better efficiency to reduced emissions, lower costs and new revenue streams.

Developed in association with UK Power Networks Services, the downloadable toolkit provides an at-a-glance summary of the main decentralised energy pathways which can be taken by organisations large and small, along with an array of top tips and important takeaways for the energy and sustainability managers who are leading their businesses along those pathways.

The report explores an array of low-carbon innovations, including battery storage, vehicle-to-grid (V2G), CHP systems and integration of renewables. It also features a viewpoint from UK Power Networks Services’ head of energy technology consulting Alan Thompson on how energy and carbon savings can support under-pressure corporate budgets post-Covid-19.
