For Net-Zero November, edie's #SustyTalk video interview series has involved into a selection of panel discussions based on the low-carbon transition. For this episode, Tom Hayes from Zero-Carbon Oxford and Anda Baumerte from Northern Powergrid discuss the energy revolution.

With edie readers working remotely or on furlough through what is now a second lockdown in the UK, this series of video interviews keeps you connected to the inspirational business leaders who are continuing to drive sustainability and champion climate action from their own homes.

#SustyTalk is all about keeping edie’s loyal readers connected to sustainable business leaders across the world, whilst reminding us all that sustainability and climate action must go on through the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

The latest episode is published to coincide with Net-Zero November. Given the great size and scale of the net-zero movement, edie is bringing back Net-Zero November – an entire month’s worth of content dedicated to informing, inspiring and empowering sustainability and energy professionals on the road to a net-zero carbon future for their business.

In association with edie’s headline partner EDF Energy, the month will include an array of net-zero-themed exclusive interviews, downloadable guides, reader blogs, webinars and podcasts. Net-Zero November will also aim to spark new business ideas and actions through edie’s award-winning campaign, Mission Possible. Specifically, edie readers will be encouraged to submit new net-zero themed commitments on behalf of their organisations via the Mission Possible Pledge Wall.

For this episode, edie’s content editor Matt Mace discusses the energy transition with Tom Hayes, Councillor and Cabinet Member for Zero-Carbon Oxford and  Anda Baumerte sustainability manager and community energy contact at Northern Powergrid.

Specifically, the 40-minute discussion outlines what challenges businesses that are powering the low-carbon energy transition are faced with as a result of the pandemic, but also the opportunities that a green recovery brings.

The episode focuses on the policy amendments that organisations would like to see to mobilise action on net-zero. Crucially, it details how Oxford’s ambition to become carbon-neutral by 2030 and Northern Powergrid’s community energy engagement strategy to respond to the climate emergency are both driving impressive levels of regional collaboration to solve key challenges.
