The Green Room is the place where leading sustainability professionals strip back some of their corporate armour to discuss their passions, beliefs and hobbies and how these have impacted their view of corporate sustainability and responsibility.

Making its triumphant return at the end of 2020, the Green Room sees edie’s content editor Matt Mace sit down virtually with EN+ Group’s non-executive chairman Lord Greg Barker.

Lord Barker is the former UK Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change who worked within the now-abolished Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). Barker was broadly seen as a good Energy Minister by the UK’s green economy during his five-year tenure and is remembered for launching the Green Deal Finance package

Lord Barker discusses the transformation underway at EN+ Group, one of the world’s largest producers of aluminium and now a key player in the hydropower market. The “Barker Plan” for example, has seen the company grow into a green champion by setting ambitious carbon goals and joining the UN Global Compact.

During the episode, Lord Barker discusses his ambitions for the Group, as well as outlining his thoughts on the UK Government’s efforts to lead the net-zero transition in the build-up to COP26.
