Presented by edie’s senior reporter Sarah George and hosted in partnership with The Woodland Trust, this episode of the Sustainable Business Covered Podcast explores how retailers are working to accelerate sustainability action as they recover from the economic impacts of Covid-19 – and what more must be done to support them.

This topic is explored in conversation with three expert guest speakers.

First up is the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) head of sustainability policy, Peter Andrews. He discusses how big-name retailers are collaborating to reach net-zero by 2040 and how the appetite for climate action on the high street has actually grown over the past 12 months. He also provides some advice for  SMEs, who may be struggling to pair profitability and environmental sustainability.

Then, Mi Apparel founder Kate Auguste talks about how UK SMEs with sustainability at their heart have been pivoting amid the pandemic, outlining her views on how national governments and local councils can provide more support.

Lastly, the Woodland Trust’s head of partnerships Pip Borrill outlines how collaboration with NGOs can bring mutual benefits, in what is shaping up to be a new era for partnerships.

In this episode, Sarah references edie’s ongoing Countdown to COP26 Festival, hosted in association with O2. You can find a full agenda of planned events and content by clicking here.

Sarah also flags the Woodland Trust’s contact details for partnership enquiries, which can be found here.
