#SustyTalk: Signify UK&I CEO Stephen Rouatt on decarbonising the built environment

The latest episode sees edie’s senior reporter Sarah George in discussion with Signify UK & Ireland’s chief executive Stephen Rouatt.

Recorded just before COP26 began and uploaded to coincide with Cities, Regions and Built Environment Day at the Scottish Events Campus in Glasgow, this discussion has the same theme.

Rouatt provides his thoughts on the UK’s recently published Heat and Buildings Strategy, stating that while any progress is welcome, there are some key components still missing.

He also details his hopes for COP26 in terms of international agreements on accelerated improvements in energy efficiency for buildings and products.

Since this video interview was recorded, Australia, Indonesia, Japan and Nigeria have joined a collaborative initiative steered by the UK Government and the International Energy Agency (IEA) aimed at drastically improving the energy efficiency of appliances such as lighting, refrigerators and air conditioners at COP26. The initiative, called the COP26 Product Efficiency Call to Action, covers products that account for some 40% of global annual electricity consumption.
