Interserve delighted by refurbishment win

SERVICES, MAINTENANCE and building group Interserve has secured a place on Severn Trent's £40M property framework alongside two other contractors.

The framework is for three years, and covers the refurbishment and modernisation of the Severn Trent estate, which stretches from the Humber Estuary to the Bristol Channel and from mid-Wales to the East Midlands in support of their major projects framework.

Bryan Hemmings, of Severn Trent, said: “Our strategic aim is to be the best water company in the UK with the lowest charges, and the highest standards. Providing our workforce with excellent facilities is key to this and we are delighted that Interserve will be working with us to achieve this.”

Adrian Ringrose, chief executive of Interserve, said: “This framework further extends our long and successful relationship with Severn Trent and is another important win within the water industry, where we have built a strong market position.”

The framework comes hot on the heels of Interserve being named preferred bidder for a £60M Thames Water Utilities contract covering the creation of new facilities and upgrade works at the Riverside Sludge Digestion plant. Interserve will build a new Thermal Hydrolysis Plant, refit digestion equipment and undertake alterations and extensions in order to meet the new Tideway Operating Agreement consent.

In addition to handling sludge generated at the Riverside sewage treatment works (STW) the plant will also take material from the Beckton STW. The contract is expected to be signed this autumn.

Ringrose said: “This will be another significant contract with Thames Water, with whom we have worked closely over a number of years.”
