Multi-site monitoring for Corporation of London

Equipment used by Campbell Scientific is at the core of the multi-site monitoring system used by the Corporation of London to monitor pollutant levels and environmental parameters at the heart of the capital.

At present the system comprises six remote monitoring sites, which can be integrated from a central PC sited at the Department of Environmental Services offices, with a seventh site being added at The London Guildhall University, which will uses GSM connections to link to the network.

Each site uses a Campbell CR10X datalogger to gather information from a variety of sensors. Staff at the Corporation of London can now monitor various historic and real time data from all the remote sites, which provide information on local trends and levels of nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, ozone and airborne particulates (PM10) as well as meteorological parameters that are also monitored and collated.

Campbell Scientific was responsible for overseeing the installations, which included providing the monitoring software, the RTDM package. The Corporation of London plans to make these screens available on its web site.

The company reports that the application and the techniques used have attracted interest from other local authorities and industrial sites.
