As part of the contract, Saint-Gobain will supply iron manhole covers and drainage boxes to Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water.

The contract was awarded to Saint-Gobain after it met a number of key criteria, including quality and price.

A spokeswoman for Northumbrian Water said it had worked with Saint-Gobain on previous projects and that “this latest contract ensures that we putting a good quality framework in place.”

As part of the tendering process Saint-Gobain was required to meet the water board’s procurement criteria.

Saint-Gobain’s, marketing manager, Paul Thompson, said the company’s UK-manufactured products are durable and are used by utilities, local authorities and road infrastructure engineers across the country.
