Nuclear power “essential” to reduction of CO2

The deputy chairman of the nuclear power group, British Energy, this week said nuclear power is crucial to the UK government's commitment to the reduction of CO2.


Addressing a conference on the future of UK utilities, Dr Robin Jeffrey, said that “the considerable reductions in CO2 emissions from the UK’s strong and successful nuclear industry is essential to delivering the Government’s commitment that in the year 2000 CO2 emissions will be held below 1990 levels.”
