Obama could force COP15 agreement
An American environmental think tank believes president Barack Obama's schedule change could signal an agreement coming out of COP15.
That’s according to Jennifer Morgan of the WRI, an environmental think tank that advocates practical ways to protect the earth and improve people’s lives.
Ms Morgan, WRI’s director, said: “It great show of intent by the US to show the seriousness by which he’s taking the process.
President Obama was due to attend the talk tomorrow as (December 9) as negotiations reach a crucial stage.
However, he’s now due to fly in towards the end of the conference with other world leaders for the announcements, if any, at the conclusion of COP15.
Ms Morgan felt his decision to come at the end of the conference could give a boost to negotiations directly between world leaders – should they take place.
“He’s coming ready to negotiate … he can give the world a sense of what should be done here.”
