GOOD NEWS for public sector organisations – substantial grant funding available for decarbonisation of public sector buildings

Two different grant schemes are available right now to provide funding to help decarbonise public sector buildings but the first deadline in 4th December.

Grant 1: The Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund (LSCF) has been launched to enable eligible public sector bodies to engage specialist and expert advice to identify and develop energy efficiency and low carbon heat upgrade projects for non-domestic buildings and then prepare robust and effective applications for the £1 billion Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS). This is an enabling grant to allow organisation that do not internally have the required skills and resources to identify decarbonisation measures and to complete the PSDS application to employ a consultant to help them with this. Applications must be in by 4th Dec 2020 (30th Oct 2020 for central government).

Grant 2: The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has launched the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme which will allocate £1bn of grant funding for capital energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects within public sector non-domestic buildings in England. Applications must be in by 11 Jan 2021 (18 Nov 2020 for central government).
