What does 2,000,000 tonnes of CO2 look like?

Last updated: 1st November 2022

To visualise a tonne of CO2e, imagine a hot air balloon. Now imagine if there were 2,000,000 hot air balloons in the skies above you. That is the amount of CO2e that JRP Solutions have identified to be removed from the operations of over 60 organisations with which we are working towards achieving Net Zero. For context, to capture of 1 tonne of CO2e emissions would need about 50 trees to be grown for one year. That's 100m trees!. This gives an idea of the size of the emissions challenge that we need to tackle to stop climate change.

JRP has evolved and developed a highly efficient, effective, science-based approach to supporting our clients’ Net Zero journey. Through this approach we are currently working with over 60 clients, for whom we have identified nearly 2,000,000 tonnes of CO2e equivalent emissions pa and are helping all these clients towards achieving Net Zero.

There is potentially a further 2,000,000 tonnes of CO2e in our pipeline if we win the work. This equates to around 1% of total UK emissions. Most of these emissions relate to non-UK activity through the supply chain, so supplier engagement is critical.

With the benefit of our experience, we’re continually refining our approach to more effectively support our clients on their ‘race to zero.’

Wherever you are on your journey to Net Zero, JRP’s experienced consultants can provide a complete service OR specialist help to complement your in-house expertise. Find our more here.
