The Health and Safety Commission has approved revised regulations which would reduce maximum exposure limits and require workers to receive in depth training before dealing with asbestos.
The HSC approval is a necessary step before legislators can pass the regulations.
As well as improving worker safety the revised regulations would simplify the existing system as they will replace three separate sets of existing health and safety measures.
More information on asbestos regulations can be found on the Health and Safety Executive’s website here.
