Comedian Lenny Henry has teamed up with a major power company in an effort to raise awareness of the simple things that can be done to improve energy efficiency.

The comedian’s collaboration with npower has produced a collection of 100 light bulb jokes in an attempt to promote energy saving in an accessible, positive way.

Copies of the Book of Light will be sold on Amazon, with profits going to Comic Relief.

Richard Frost, head of public relations at the power company said: “As well as raising money for Comic Relief, we wanted to use this initiative to connect with our customers and get people talking about energy saving in a light-hearted way.

“Many people don’t realise that small changes can make a big difference to the environment. For instance, by using a 14w energy saving bulb for a whole year, you can reduce your carbon emissions by up to 7.5kg, which is enough to heat the water to make 581 cups of coffee.”
