Climate Change lecture series scheduled for Dublin

Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host a series of climate change lectures over the next six months.

The talks will investigate the main facets of climate change, and how this global phenomenon will impact business, the wider economy and politics.

Taking place at the Davenport Hotel in Dublin, the initial two lectures will be delivered by lead authors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report on climate change.

They will begin at 6pm on November 20 and 27, and attendance is free. However, advance bookings are essential.

The first will focus on the science of climate change, while the second will look at the various options open to addressing the issue.

Other lectures in the series include one with Dr Eric Wolff of the British Antarctic Society on January 22, entitled ‘Meltdown? – Evidence of climate change from polar science’; and Professor Wolfgang Lucht of Germany’s Potsdam Institute speaking about ‘Hotter? Drier? Wetter? … Impacts of climate change on earth systems’ on February 5.

The others will take place on February 26, March 11 and April 8 and all will take place in Dublin.
