International firm Air Products will fuel London’s planned fleet of hydrogen buses in a £3.4m deal announced this month.
The company, which has its European headquarters in Surrey, signed a contract with Transport for London to install, operate and maintain the infrastructure to run 10 hydrogen-powered buses. It will also supply the fuel.
Last November, London Mayor Ken Livingstone announced plans to trial five hydrogen fuel cell buses and five buses powered by hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engines in the capital.
Mr Livingstone said the deal with Air Products was an important step in providing a cleaner, more efficient bus service.
