Michael Norton, managing director for Halcrow's water and power business has been appointed to the Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) Water Panel.

The Water Panel which includes leading practitioners throughout the water sector works to facilitate best practice in the delivery of sustainable water policy and infrastructure worldwide.

Recently, the Water Panel has been involved in formulating the ICE response to a range of UK water issues, including the Pitt Review, and developing water policy statements.

In addition, the panel identifies and address some of the key issues within the water industry, and acts as a focal point for the release of information and advice to government bodies, ICE members and the general public.

The Water Panel also aims to promote the work of the ICE, as Michael explains, “Being a member of the Water Panel involves promoting excellence and raising the profile of civil engineers within our area of work.

The panel supports seminars; industry awards, the publishing of technical papers and research, and is involved in the formulation of best practice guides and policies. I am delighted that I have been asked to contribute.”
