Scott Wilson named Planning Consultancy of the Year

Scott Wilson has been named the Royal Town Planning Institute's Planning Consultancy of the Year 2009 at a prestigious awards ceremony at London's Hilton Hotel, Park Lane.

The awards recognise the diversity of the planning consultancy sector and its clients and the innovative work that is often involved.

Hugh Blackwood, Scott Wilson Group Chief Executive, comments, “Scott Wilson is proud to receive this prestigious award. It is recognition of not only our success to date, but our commitment to developing planning as an ever more important part of our service offering. We have a range of current high profile projects in which our planners are playing a pivotal role, including the Thames Tunnel, Crossrail and the Mersey Tidal Power Scheme and I am delighted that their talent and achievements can be so publicly recognised.”

The judging panel commented, “Scott Wilson’s planning consultancy has contributed to the sustainability appraisal of eco-towns, major infrastructure works and national demonstration projects for estate regeneration. Its advice has tackled key issues in equality, residents’ charters and climate change. Standards are maintained and innovation promoted by investment in training, reflective learning and quality assurance. Clients comment on the positive approach of staff prepared to go the extra mile.”

Planning is an expanding part of Scott Wilson’s core business; it appointed it first Chartered Town Planner in 1996 and now has 65 full-time Corporate RTPI members. The Group offers a comprehensive range of planning services to both the public and private sectors, ranging from strategic planning to development management.
