Ed Miliband holds his seat

Energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband has held onto his seat as an MP as the election remains neck and neck.

Energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband has held onto his seat as an MP as Labour and the Conservatives still battle it out.

Mr Miliband, whose brother David also held his seat, won his Doncaster North consistency with a marginally reduced majority.

The MP held the seat with 19,637 votes, 47.3% of the turnout, and a drop 3.8% on 2005’s.

Mr Miliband has seen his personal stock rise considerably in the past few years, with some media commentators even suggesting him as a dark horse for the leadership of the Labour party should Gordon Brown step down.
