Electric vehicle charging four times as fast

Technology firm GE has unveiled for the first time a prototype electric vehicle charging point it claims is four times faster than existing models.

Edie.net was invited to the official launch of Watt Station by GE vice president of ecomagination, Steve Fludder, at the firm’s Munich headquarters yesterday (July 15).

Mr Fludder claimed the Watt Station will ‘transform’ the electric vehicle market with fast and reliable charging points, increasing the lure for sceptical consumers.

He said the average charge for an electric vehicle was 18 hours, but with the Watt Station that could be cut to just four.
