Giving the keynote address last night (November 8) at the launch of the build up to 2011’s Climate Week Mr Barker re-enforced prime minister David Cameron’s pledge.

The coalition has received criticism in the wake of the Comprehensive Spending Rreview, with several environmental bodies having their funding cut.

But Mr Barker promised to put what he called the ‘disappointment’ of the past 11 months since Copenhagen’s COP15 behind them.

He said: “It is clear Government can’t do it on its own, we need to reform, rethink and go forward with a new sense of purpose.

“The media may have lost interest, but we have to go forward.”

Climate Week will run from the 21 to 27 March next year, for more information click here to go to the website.
