The proposal has been submitted to Devon County Council for a 75,000-tonne capacity plant that will generate up to 3MW of electricity and a similar quantity of heat from the processing of mixed food and green waste.

It is planned that the completed facility will look much the same as it does at present. The footprint of the existing buildings will be slightly enlarged along the contours of the site.

This will enable the natural topography of the site to be utilised to advantage during the processing operation. The existing roof heights will remain the same.

AAD’s CEO, Tristan Lloyd-Baker, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to bring life back to a former industrial site and restore local jobs to the area. We have considered the points raised through our close community engagement and the scheme has particularly benefited from this process.”
