Wheelie bin firm wins major supply deal with Serco

Wheelie bin manufacturer MGB Plastics has secured a deal to supply 170,000 bins to outsourcer Serco, one of the UK's leading waste services operators.

The Rotherham firm will also supply kitchen caddies as part of the deal over the next three years, depending on the needs of local authorities.

MGB’s general manager, Conor Sugrue, said the tender win was a crucial part of the company’s ongoing long-term strategy.

“This is an important win for us and we’re delighted to have been appointed by Serco following a competitive tender. This will allow us to build on our relationship with local authorities across the UK.”

Last month, MGB strengthened its position as one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of wheeled bins by investing a six figure sum in new machinery which will increase its manufacturing capacity and make more products.

Serco’s environmental services business extends across 14 local authorities and covers a range of services including refuse and recycling, landscaping, grounds maintenance, as well as housing repairs and improvements.
