Wates chooses McGrath for recovery of social housing waste

McGrath will provide containers, collection and recycling of construction waste produced by the internal and external refurbishment of the Decent Homes schemes in Haringey and Tower Hamlets.

Wates said that McGrath’s local recycling facility in Hackney and logistics operation were key factors on the decision to use the company. Wates’ project manager Andrew Grant said: “This is a particularly intensive programme of refurbishment and we needed local company with the resources to manage the significant volumes of wastes we expect to generate.”

In addition to supplying rolon-off, closed and open skips to site, McGrath’s fleet will provide scheduled and reactive collections of wastes which will be transported to a MRF in Hackney. There, concrete, brick, timber, glass and plastic wastes will be segregated and reprocessed.

Both refurbishment contractors at Homes for Haringey, Wates and Mulalley have opted to use McGrath’s services to manage waste generated by the Decent Homes scheme.
