Farmland wanted for renewables projects

Environmental and agricultural consultancy ADAS is calling on agricultural landowners to take part in one of its renewable energy projects partnerships.

As part of the initiative, ADAS is looking for sites suitable for renewable energy projects such as single wind turbine, anaerobic digestion (AD) and solar photovoltaic (PV).

Following completion of planning, ADAS will install and operate single wind turbines, AD plants and solar PV panels – at no cost to the landowner, who will receive a share of the gross revenue from the projects.

It is anticipated that for single wind turbines this could equate to 15% per year of the gross revenue, which for an average wind site is estimated to be in excess of £30,000 per year.

Kicking off next week (May 9) ADAS will be holding renewable energy events around the country and is inviting landowners to attend to discuss opportunities with an expert and have their land assessed for a range of technologies.

ADAS head of environment Jon Abbatt, said: “We will be hosting events around the country in May focusing on renewable energy options on farms.

“Any interested landowners are welcome to attend, presentations will be given during the course of the event on wind energy, anaerobic digestion and solar PV and you will have the opportunity to chat to our experts about getting involved.”
