Severn Trent partners with Costain to target industrial water users

The partnership, announced this morning, is designed to offer water-intensive and large multi-site businesses a complete water and wastewater service from source to disposal.

The new venture, Severn Trent Costain, follows Government efforts to open up the water industry to increased competition. It will operate in England, Wales and Scotland after Severn Trent was granted a water services licence by the Water Industry Commission for Scotland earlier this year. This means that businesses with multiple sites across England, Scotland and Wales will be able to have a single water retail contract and access services through one supplier.

It will target high volume commercial and industrial water users including the food and beverage sector, power generation, automotive, chemical and textiles companies as well as national retail chains, public services sand hotel groups.

Described by the company as a “joined up approach to water management”, services offered include efficiency improvement, leveraging cost savings, managing legal compliance and risk management.

“Large companies are facing a confusing ‘perfect storm’ of environmental pressures, constantly-changing legislative requirements, and financial and administrative obligations at a point in the economy when it is vital they can concentrate on sustaining their core businesses,” said Severn Trent Costain md Wayne Earp. “Severn Trent Costain provides the opportunity to unify, simplify and optimise a very significant and critical segment of this burden.”
