WRAP to unveil ‘business case’ for textiles recycling

Commercial opportunities around textiles reuse and recycling will be revealed in new research due to be released by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) next week.

WRAP has just finalised its findings from a broad spectrum of work looking at the UK textiles market, which seeks to map product flow and highlight market development opportunities.

As part of this work, the organisation has investigated the business case to divert contaminated textiles from landfill and increase recovery levels through commercially viable washing and drying processes.

Findings from the research will feed into an evidence base that WRAP is building to identify key market drivers for the textile recycling sector to increase recovery levels and the value of the reuse market.

It will also be publishing a textiles guide for local authorities and third sector groups, which collates good practice models on kerbside/bring collections and community reuse initiatives.
