SITA Finland will take delivery of two ZenRobotics units, one a heavy picker and one a fast picker to add to its test set-up which has been operational since 2011.

Last September, ZenRobotics sold its first unit to Dutch firm Baetsen Recycling in a deal worth over €1m.

Finland now becomes the second country to adopt the highly specialised multiple robot waste sorting process. According to SITA, the system has increased recovery rates at its construction waste reprocessing site in Helsinki from class from 70% to 90%.

SITA Finland CEO Jorma Kangas said that sustainable reuse of raw materials was key and that adopting such technology would strengthen the company’s position as a supplier of high-quality industrial raw materials in the country.

Meanwhile ZenRobotics is embarking on an aggressive expansion strategy. Last year it secured €13m in investment funding to grow and commercialise its system.
