Help form opinion on the future of resource efficiency

Business attitudes towards the increasing importance of smarter resource management are being sought as part of an exclusive research project being undertaken by edie and sister title LAWR magazine.

The study, which forms part of a wider Resource Revolution campaign launched last month, will examine how both corporate waste and sustainability managers, and the waste management firms that serve them, are aligning themselves within an emerging circular economy.

In an age of increasing resource scarcity, it will ask how important closed loop processes are for companies – from brand leaders to SMEs – and what stage business is at in achieving them, and also what technologies and strategies are being adopted as a result.

The research will also attempt to pinpoint some of the biggest barriers to achieving a circular economy, as well as the risks and rewards for both businesses and the waste management supply chain which is being fundamentally reshaped as these new dynamics come into play.

Issues around feedstock security will also be examined as the value of waste starts to rise, either in the form of secondary materials or renewable energy.

Findings from the research are due to be published in February.
