PHS builds on clinical waste portfolio with NHS win

PHS Wastemanagement has secured a five-year contract with NHS trusts in Lincolnshire to provide clinical waste services, significantly expanding its reach within the healthcare sector.

The contract will span cross-community services and see PHS collect clinical, offensive and sharps waste from a variety of locations including GP surgeries, health centres, community hospitals and dentists.

Speaking about the contract win, PHS Wastemanagement managing director Clare Noble said it would provide a single point of contract for Lincolnshire’s NHS trusts, ensuring a streamlined and efficient service.

“We know that health practitioners are busy people with little time to deal with the waste generated. Our experience in this sector and our ability to manage waste from numerous sites is a real advantage,” she said.

Ray Wright, who oversaw the bid process at the time as waste manager at NHS Lincolnshire which has since been restructured, added: “The PHS team’s understanding of our industry is just one of the reasons why we are working with them. We are looking forward to building a strong relationship over the coming months and years.”
