These are the findings of a new exclusive report by edie and Sustainable Business, Energy Managers: Procurement, Planning and Purchasing Priorities 2014/15, which surveyed 406 people responsible for energy management within their organisation.

Following similar research undertaken by edie in 2012, the report finds that energy cost not only remains the largest threat to operations but is also the main driver of energy-related decisions.

It also shows that although companies have been increasing energy efficiency throughout their operations for many years, there is still a minority still unaware of their organisations energy spend.

With climate change rising up the agendas of the public and private sectors, the 16% unaware of their energy spend is a concern to those looking to progress the low-carbon agenda. However, this figure has fallen from the research carried out in 2012, which revealed a massive 29% of those responsible for energy who did not know their energy spend.
