Sustainability stats: The week in numbers

What great data did we see in the past seven days? In the second of a new series, edie takes a look-back at some of the fascinating figures from the worlds of energy, waste and water.

It was a week that saw several important political stories, from a controversial new European Energy Commissioner to a Lib Dem promise for action on climate change. It was also a week of dichotomies, as renewable energy groups were buoyed by positive signs from solar and wind power then dismayed by the looming threat of a massive nuclear power station in Somerset.

This list rounds up these industry plot lines with illustrative key numbers and accompanying links for each of the big stories in case you missed them.
